There is something lovely about a chair that is ready for a quiet ten minutes. A place to put your feet up can make that little pause feel even better. A pouffe cover adds colour and texture without asking you to change the whole room.
Before choosing one, it helps to know what comes with it, how much space it needs and what you will put inside. Here is a simple guide.
Start with the space beside your chair
Measure the floor space first. Leave a clear path around the chair and enough room to stand up easily. Try marking the shape with a towel before you decide. It is a quick way to see whether a round or square pouffe will feel comfortable there.
Choose one pattern you enjoy
A plain sofa is a lovely starting point for a colourful kilim pouffe. Keep nearby cushions in cream, warm beige or a colour picked from the pattern. The room can feel calm while still having something cheerful to look at.
Our handmade wool kilim pouffe cover is a 40 cm cube. It has a colourful diamond top, red and white striped sides and a black cotton base. Take a closer look at the wool texture and the small changes of colour within the pattern. These details are part of the pleasure of choosing handmade furnishings.

Remember that a cover needs filling
Both pouffes shown here are sold as covers only. Filling is not included. Check the opening before buying an inner pad or trying to fit a cover over an old footstool.
The handmade recycled fabric pouffe covers come in two round sizes: about 45 cm across and 22 cm high, or 58 cm across and 37 cm high. They bring together textile patches, embroidery and shell or bead details. Their smaller zip opening is made for soft filling, rather than a solid pouffe.

Fill a little at a time
Use suitable pouffe filling, or clean, dry clothes, towels and linen as suggested on these product pages. Add small amounts and spread them into the corners or around the edges. Stop and check the shape as you go. Avoid forcing the zip closed.
Keep the corner easy to live with
Let the pouffe be a footrest beside your favourite chair. Keep drinks on a steady side table and leave the walking space clear. A little care with placement makes the room more useful as well as more welcoming.
